Case Study: She is a 75-year-old, neat lady who had been healthy all of her life. She had been diagnosed with cardiomyopathy and placed on several medications---one of which was Cardarone. This drug had made her quite ill and she wanted to come off all of her meds. Her ejection fraction was 20% (normal is 50 –70%), however, because of her age was not able to be placed on a heart transplant list. She was given less than a year to live by her cardiologist.
I started her on a nutritional supplementation program and within four months her ejection fraction had increased to 35%. More exciting was the fact that she was feeling great and was back to normal activity. It has now been over two years and she continues to do well and has been able to get off most of her heart medicine.
